From 21th to 24th of April ITENE was on Hispack 2015 at Barcelona Trade Fair Gran Via Exhibition Centre (Spain).
The Packaging, Transport and Logistics Research Center, ITENE showed all the latest technological developments. One of them was BioActiveLayer Project, a new packaging solution to the dried food industry.
BIOACTIVELAYER pouches consist in a biodegradable multilayer structure with the required barrier properties for dry food products and also modified atmosphere packaging. This development could replace commonly structures based on petroleum based materials (non-renewable source) and aluminium.
An application of dried coffee pouche of the material was developed as an example of future applications of this innovation.
Over 700 companies, 30% of them foreign- went to an event marked by innovation and the shift towards demand. The main aim of Hispack 2015 was demostrate the benefits of packaging throughout the complete value chain.
This edition was marked by innovation, sustainability, the drive towards internationalization and a real connection with the needs of packaging buyers.
"Packaging is the driving force behind innovation and recovery," asserted the president of Hispack's Organizing Committee, Javier Riera Marsá, who champions the added value that good management and planning of packaging throughout the value chain can contribute to the sectors of industry, consumer goods, distribution, retail and the end customer.
